D-xylopyranose is d-Xylose in its pyranose form. Xylose or wood sugar is an aldopentose - a monosaccharide containing five carbon atoms and an aldehyde functional group. It has chemical formula C5H10O5 and is 40% as sweet as sucrose.

Available in powder form, D-Xylose is accessible in white crystalline form. It has 1.5+0.1 g/cm3 vapor density and its melting point ranges between 144 degree C to 145 degree C. D-Xylose is considered as non calorie sweetener that can be used to formulate medicines, fat based antioxidants, fragrances and caramel colors. In food processing industry, it is used as flavor modifying factor. It has 18.5 degree to 19.5 degree specific optical rotation range. Its water based solution has 5.0 to 7.0 ph range.
